Maya Harrigan is a Sofia-based audio producer, composer, and sound designer with over two decades of experience crafting sound for visual media. Her work is rooted in her deep love for orchestral writing, though her musical life spans the full spectrum – from cinematic scoring to playing in post-punk dark wave band Voyvoda.
Maya began her career in radio, working as a sound editor at FM+, BG Radio, and Radio 1, where she developed a sharp ear for timing, narrative flow, and broadcast production standards. She later transitioned into advertising, spending over 15 years composing music and creating sound design for TV commercials and film projects – working both independently and as part of leading production studios of the time, ProVision Group and TopForm Studio. This period shaped her ability to deliver emotionally engaging, deadline-driven work at scale.
In recent years, Maya has focused on the iGaming industry, working as an Audio Producer and leading end-to-end audio production pipelines. Her role bridges creative and technical disciplines. While partnering with game producers and game designers at the strategic level, she coordinates composers, sound designers, voiceover actors, artists and animators, developers, and QA experts to execute a unified audio concept.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Audio Engineering from New Bulgarian University and a Master of Fine Arts in Music for Motion Pictures and Contemporary Media from the Film Scoring Academy of Europe. The MFA operates under the American College Dublin, a constituent college of the Irish American University, accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education — the same body that accredits The Juilliard School. The intensive one-year program included modules in orchestration, studio conducting, sound synthesis, game scoring, and mixing, with student compositions recorded across 17 live orchestral sessions, including a full 110-piece ensemble — an industry-level standard rarely seen in academic settings. As a recipient of the Andy Hill Scholarship, Maya studied directly under Grammy Award-winning music supervisor Andy Hill, former Vice President of Music Production at Walt Disney Studios during the Disney Renaissance (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King), and one of the foremost film scoring educators in the world. The program also featured masterclasses with renowned composers, including Howard Shore (The Lord of the Rings), Danny Elfman (Batman, Edward Scissorhands), Mychael Danna (Life of Pi), Christopher Young (Hellraiser), and James Newton Howard (The Hunger Games). It was a formation that shaped not only her craft, but her conviction that music, at its best, is inseparable from story.
