Alexander ‘Sancho’ Marinov (1979) has a BA in Classical Studies in the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, and a MA in Medieval Studies in the Central European University, Budapest.
Alexander combines his studies with a professional career in two spheres: as a manager and assistant director in the film industry, and as a translator for features and documentaries. His experience on set, combined with his knowledge of the written film format – in the form of the scripts and dialogue lists which he translates – lead to his decision to subscribe for a two semester course in Film and TV Directing at NATFA, Sofia, in 2005/2006. His interest in scriptwriting and his skills with text make him a valuable creative aid for many young directors and scriptwriters in their short projects.
His scriptwriting skills are recognised with the Best Script Award of the 2008 National Short Script Contest organised by Nisi Masa. He is also the copywriter and director of the official clip of 3rd Filmini International Short Film Festival.
Alexander dedicates his spare time to nature conservation and traveling.
