The Red House Centre for Culture and Debate “Andrey Nikolov” was founded on 21 October, 2004.
Since then the Red House has hosted 350 performances, 220 exhibitions, 570 public debates, 300 public lectures, 130 book presentations and literary discussions as well as 700 film screenings.
Since then The Red House has had 75 employees working with more than 900 children and youth in risk. 178 students have completed the Red House’s university degree programme. An exposition of sculpture by Andrey Nikolov has been permanently hosted.
Since then the Red House has hosted Orhan Pamuk, Dubravka Ugrešić, Ivo Mudov, Larry Lessig, Timothy Snyder, Georgi Gospodinov, Gilles Kepel, Galina Borissova, Philippe Schmitter , Neda Sokolovska, Maria Lipman, Andrey Zubov, Jacques Rupnik, Ivo Dimchev, Chantal Mouffe and more than 2 800 other celebrities.
Since then The Red House has been attended by 500 000 people. 20 job postions in the cultural field have been opened. 130 volunteers and internship holders have been attracted. Funds of BGN 5 500 000 have been invested in art and culture. Funds of BGN 746 000 have been invested in the Red House building’s reconstruction, repair and equipment.
Today, The Red House Centre for Culture and Debate “Andrey Nikolov” is forced to close doors.
